Hermitage of Cristo de la Vega (Basílica Santa Leocadia)

On the remains of the Visigothic basilica of Saint Leocadia stands today the chapel of Cristo de la Vega, which retains the apse of the thirteenth century, the rest being destroyed in the war of Independence. Outside the apse are preserved traces of polychromy and the only ship is decorated, both external and internal, with four slender arches orders blindly, unusual in the interior.
The presbytery is chaired a carving of Christ with one hand desclavada, protagonist of the famous legend collected by Zorrilla as "A good judge best witness. "From the seventeenth century are held the famous "reviernes" during the seven weeks between Easter and Pentecost. |
