Church of San Bartolomé

The current building presents a succession of reforms and styles, emphasizing the apse of the thirteenth century Mudejar, decorated with three different levels of blind brick arches, two sides apses plans are added, when the church tripled its original single ship in the next century .
Later joined Gothic chapels, in the sixteenth century chapel of St. Catherine, Nicolas de Vergara "Porter" and in the XVII of Loreto, designed by Jorge Manuel, the son of El Greco. There was also restoration works in the twentieth century. And yet, is one of the first parishes founded after the reconquest, as documented and appears in the twelfth century.
Its tower exploits the structure of a Muslim minaret, as in the church of Santiago, whose walls are reused some reliefs Visigoths, although less than in the tower of the church of San Salvador. |
