Church of San Nicolás

The church we see today is the result of an almost total reconstruction in the eighteenth century, is therefore of the Baroque style. The previous church seems to have been founded in the sixteenth century, El Greco and conducted several canvases for one of its chapels.
Being in an area of the noble city, the parishioners were of the highest alcurnia. The only ship is divided into five sections with chapels on both sides, covered with a barrel vault with lunettes and scallops on the dome of the chapel has more elliptical shape.
The large canvas of the High Altar, the work of Zacarias Hernandez, representing the owner of the parish. The rest of the church and altarpieces sides are decorated with a large number of paintings and sculptures by several centuries, since the sixteenth century. |
