Church of San Román
 

Museum Located on the second of the twelve hills of Toledo, from his tower offers a privileged view. El actual museo de los Concilios presenta en su interior capiteles visigodos que atestiguan su remoto origen. The current museum presents the Councils in its internal capitals Visigoths testifying its remote origin. There is speculation with the theory that there was any place in the building Roman, Visigoth church and Muslim mosque.

The current building is typically Mudejar, with three aisles separated by horseshoe arches and covered by a coffered ceiling. The chapel, however, is the sixteenth century, a work by Alonso de Covarrubias, covered with a vault with coffered. The main altarpiece is the work of Diego de Velasco.

The most striking is the good state of preservation of wall paintings Romance, presenting Byzantine influences, with front hieratic figures, in the Muslim bicolours dovelas of arches and a dramatic representation of the resurrection of the dead.

Closely following is the effigy of San Cristobal on the wall of the current entry. As museum hosts a rich display of archaeological finds Visigoths, both decorative elements in stone, as the Funerary, where the classical goldsmith no shortage of cells with colored glass paste, or necklaces of amber from the Baltic.The pieces are more striking, however, reproductions of the famed Treasure of Guarrazar, magnificent example of high-level gold in times Reccesuinth, Sisebur, Suintila ...
